Just realised there has been some blog neglect of late ... so here's a pictorial update
.. one hot water bottle cover finished, hope I don't need to use it to for a while
Merry Christmas quilted and ready to be decorated ... I'm saying little about the tension problems because I would much rather forget how wrong it went before it went right!!
and spring has arrived on the front deck, just a few more tubs to fill for summer colour
meanwhile, Crumble is keeping my terrace seat warm ...

Review: A Different Sun by Elaine Neil Orr
A well written novel, authentic and passionate, with hints of
The Poisonwood Bible but sufficiently original to compliment to Kingsolver’s
tour de force. Orr takes a deep look at the lives of missionaries to Africa in
the late 1800’s, with a focus on the expectation and reality of life for Emma, a
newly married young American woman, eager to please God and her husband. The tensions
and complexity of missionary work in Africa are well handled, and Emma’s journey
of learning about how she might live her faith in that context makes for a good
story.
